GMC-OPT04: Digital Output Module (2nd Generation) †
S/PDIF digital output module for OPM, OPL3, SPC2 and OPL/M/N modules. This module repleaces its predecessor, GMC-OPT02. You can feed the signal into any external DAC of your choice and pursue the best end results.
Features †
- Ultimate sound quality that surpasses any other emulator. This module draws digital signals directly out of FM LSI, so the purity of sound is at the very highest. Also, software emulators can not faithfully recreate the original sounds, since they calculate waveform with a bit depth lower than the hardware sound chip.
The sound card the digital signals are feeded to will make slight difference in the quality of resulting sound.
We recommend using an external DAC (when playing) or audio card (when recording) instead of PC's built-in sound card.
- Up- and down-sampling: with its sampling rate converter, the module can output the signals in the frequency of 32000/44100/48000/96000Hz.
The recommended setting is 96kHz.
- 24bit output capability, made possible by the higher grade DSP.
- Low noise. Thanks to the upgraded DSP, residual noise has been reduced by no less than 20dB compared to GMC-OPT02.
- Compatible with any module with an OPTION I/F port.
- Software auto-detection of the sound module lets GMC-OPT04 know what sound module it is currently connected to. No need for tedious manual setting!
- Full 16bit decoding of digital signals. While sound chip YM2151 outputs its digital signals in 16bit, the original YAMAHA DAC YM3012 is capable of decoding up to only 13bit. GMC-OPT04's unique-in-the-field *1 16bit decoding capability takes away this limit, achieving a fidelty of sound far surpassing that of any digital output adaptor ever created.
- PCB manufactured in Japan. Although it took an additional cost, we saw a high-quality PCB indispensable for this module to attain a higher standard of SMD mounting quality.
